Jay Longley Finds for January 2018
Here's a photo of the "keepers" that I found with my metal detector during about 10 hours of hunting in January. No gold but I found one silver Roosevelt dime. $2.85 in modern change. One unidentified foreign coin. I think my best find was a very old Looney Mercantile brass trade token from Brownwood. One like it sold 2 years ago on eBay for $30. It's pictured to the left of the marble. Above it is an aluminum Palmolive Crystal Coastal Soap token that's probably from the Depression. The Looney token placed second in our Central Texas Treasure Club's Find of the Month contest in the Relics category. The replica German Iron Cross necklace placed first in our Jewelry category. The old brass water nozzle, in the bottom left corner, is marked "Royal Italy" and is valued at $12. Also, pictured is a crusty old hunting dogs pocket watch, and old water faucet, a metal medical nitro glycerine holder, a U.S. military button from WWII, half a horseshoe found at an old ghost town, a .45 bullet, brass scrap items, and a lot of miscellaneous.
